I’m a Service Designer currently studying for an MA at the Royal College of Art. My work is focused on using design to reduce inequality and positively influence social change particularly for young people. My work also explores how technology can be best used to benefit everyone.
Previously I worked for 2+ years at Snook, a service design agency focusing on transforming organizations by putting people first. I worked on co-design projects with young people, creating alcohol awareness and mental health campaigns using a co-production approach. I also organized and ran hacks and jams and ran projects using digital to empower young people in new ways.
I love a side project, which is why I built this website with the small amount of front-end code that I know. I used to have a gallery in my living room; The Plinth. Now I run a podcast, Another Side Cast, which interviews people on projects they do outside of their day-job.
Gaining a deep understanding of user needs is key. I have experience in running workshops, hacks and jams in order to gather data as well as facilitate the learning of skills. I understand how to interview people in a way that allows them to open up. These are just some of the techniques I use to understand and define problems and opportunities.
Prototyping and Testing
Visualising the product, service or change you want to make is key to understanding how it will work for people. I use my graphic design skills to bring concepts and ideas to life. This can include creating printed materials as well as wireframes, click through prototypes and simple websites. I have experience in using HTML and CSS and a good understanding of typography. Putting a prototype in someone’s hand is then a great way to have a conversation about what will work.
Delivery and Implementation
A great idea is nothing if it isn’t executed well. I work with multiple stakeholders to ensure that solutions are realistic and doable in the timeframe and budget available. I am able to execute ideas through organising events, creating strategies and creating digital and physical touchpoints.
